More than a hundred individuals convicted amid human trafficking fight in Uzbekistan
Last year, 126 individuals were convicted of human trafficking in Uzbekistan. 84 of them were sentenced to imprisonment, while 42 received conditional and restricted freedom sentences.

According to the Supreme Court, of those convicted, 111 were women and 15 were men. 242 people were victims of human trafficking during the reporting period, including 151 women and 24 infants under the age of three.
Between January and May of 2024, 69 individuals were tried under Article 135 of the Criminal Code (human trafficking), with 52 receiving imprisonment sentences and 17 non-imprisonment-related penalties (fines, conditional, and restriction of freedom).
Of the convicted individuals, 53 were women and 16 were men. As a result of these crimes, 86 people suffered harm, including 63 women and 14 infants under the age of three.
