Another scandal in Kashkadarya: A woman tries to set tractor on fire
A video, showing a conflict between farmworkers and residents of the Yakkabog district, went viral on social networks. In the video, it can be seen that the parties pour gasoline and try to start a fire.
The regional prosecutor’s office reported that the incident occurred on February 29 of this year. One of the farmers decided to create an intensive orchard on the site of the ordinary one, cutting down apple trees, the “Kashkadarya Novosti” (“Qashqadaryo News”) publication writes.
“The fact is that last year, in order to implement certain projects in accordance with the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers on the territory of the village of Khusn, Yakkabag district, 11.5 hectares of land that was previously under the management of 8 farms were returned to the reserve. Subsequently, this land was transferred to “Askarov Muzaffar Jabborovich” farm by the decision of the Yakkabog district khokim on July 27, 2019, the publication said.
In February of this year, the farmer, following the recommendations of specialists, began cutting down apple trees in the garden, because they were infected with a fungus. On February 29, the former owners of the garden T. Omonov, M. Mansurov and other residents of the village of Khusn, armed with sticks and stones, appeared on the territory of the garden to prevent its destruction.
The women who came with them had a 20-liter plastic canister with 5 liters of petrol. They tried to pour the combustible liquid over a tractor, which B. Normuminov was driving. However, the driver managed to take the canister from the women and pour its contents onto the ground. However, at that moment, part of the fuel spilled onto one of the women, U. Burkhonova. After B. Normuminov left the scene, the protesters, led by T. Omonov, also dispersed.
At present, the cutting activities on this land plot have been suspended, and the working group, consisting of the regional prosecutor’s office and the khokimiyat representatives, is studying the circumstances of the incident.
Earlier, on July 22, 2019, in the Yakkabag district of Kashkadarya region, a businessman poured gasoline and set the deputy district khokim on fire, who tried to demolish his new store and workshop.
