Billionaire Alisher Usmanov donated $20 million to Uzbekistan during the coronavirus pandemic. It is expected that he will grant another $5 million.
This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Kuchkarov at a briefing on April 23.
“We received 600 billion soums of charitable funds. In particular, Alisher Usmanov donated $20 million. Today, another $5 million will be transferred on his behalf. These funds will be used to equip the hospital under construction in the Zangiata district. In addition, UzTex allocated $1 million, a Navoi-based enterprise “Bakht tekstil” donated $500 thousand, Tashkent Trade Center – $200 thousand,” Kuchkarov said.
According to him, the amount of money received by the Fund “Charity and Health” exceeded 71 billion soums.
