SSS officers detain drug traffickers
Employees of the State Security Service (SSS) revealed the network of drug traffickers delivering hashish from Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan.
“In the course of an operational event held by officers of the SSS Department in the Fergana region, a Nexia-2 car traveling from Andijan to Kokand was stopped before entering the city. During the examination of the car trunk, officers found a plastic bag with 5 kg of hashish belonging to the passenger of the car – a resident of the Andijan district,” the press service of the SSS Department reported.
It was found that Kyrgyz citizens had taken the drugs by illegal routes to the Khojaabad district of the Andijan region and handed them over to a woman.
She, in turn, was supposed to transfer 4 kg of the indicated amount of drugs to a resident of Kokand and 1 kg to a resident of the Fergana district.
Based on this, it was decided to continue the operational measures. As a result of the activities, both buyers were detained while receiving drugs in Kokand.
“It should be emphasized that a mentioned resident of Kokand was sentenced to 10 years of prison in 2007 by the Fergana city criminal court for committing crimes related to drug trafficking. Similarly, in 2015 a resident of the Fergana region was sentenced to 7 years in prison under articles 246 and 273 of the Criminal Code and has been serving a sentence of correctional labor since 2020,” the press service said.
In addition, as part of measures to combat drug trafficking, the SSS Department in the Khorezm region and the anti-smuggling department of the regional customs department carried out a check of a Lacetti car standing on the roadside in the Sholikor village of the Gurlan district.
As a result, 997 grams of opium was discovered under the front seat of the car, which belonged to the passenger, who has been serving a sentence for a similar crime committed earlier.
In the course of similar events, officers of the State Security Service Department of Karakalpakstan together with the internal affairs bodies detained a resident of Nukus, while he was selling 5.6 grams of hashish for 400 thousand soums. During the preliminary investigations, it turned out that the man received drugs from another dealer. During a search of his place of residence in Nukus, 285.4 grams of hashish imported from Kazakhstan were seized in a procedural manner.
Also, SSS officers during the service on the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border on the territory of the Uyghur village of the Pakhtaabad district, Andijan region, discovered 587 grams of hashish thrown from the Kyrgyz side. Currently, an investigation to identify the owner of the narcotic drugs is underway.
Another case was also recorded in the indicated area when the State Security Service officers in the border zone stopped and inspected the belongings of local residents; they found 504 grams of hashish.
As it turned out, these drugs were also transferred to the territory of the country by Kyrgyz citizens, through a wire fence of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border.
“In total, 6,382 grams of hashish and 997 grams of opium were seized in the course of operational activities. Currently, criminal proceedings have been initiated under relevant articles of the Criminal Code, and investigative actions are underway,” the press service of the SSS concluded.
