Uzbekistan begins production of Volkswagen cars, the Uzavtosanoat press service reported.
In March, Uzavtosanoat and Volkswagen Group Rus signed a contract under which the parties agreed to organize the production of commercial vehicles in the Jizzakh FEZ, based on the LLC Jizzakh Automobile Plant.
The production capacity of the enterprise will be up to 20,000 cars per year. The first model will be the Volkswagen Caddy.
Now the Jizzakh Automobile plant is at the final stage of construction. The premises of the plant’s main part and office are completed and ready for operation.
To speed up the production process, a batch of Volkswagen Caddy cars was brought to Uzbekistan, which was transferred to authorized certification bodies.
At the same time, a number of dealer enterprises have been identified that will cooperate with the LLC Jizzakh-Avto. Sales of Volkswagen Caddy will begin in July.
“Each project of the dealer company was approved individually and in accordance with the corporate concept. Now, work is underway on the construction of new dealerships in accordance with Volkswagen standards – all of them will be equipped with modern branded equipment to provide quality after-sales service to customers,” Oybek Ayubov, Director General of the LLC Jizzakh-Avto, said.
In addition, a special training program for employees of Jizzakh-Avto and dealerships has been developed in accordance with Volkswagen global standards.
