Today, there are 13 fruit and vegetable clusters in the Namangan region. 31% of the total land in the region, specialized in fruit and vegetable growing, is attached to them.
According to the Deputy Minister of Agriculture Saidkamol Khodjayev, 11 more cluster enterprises, specialized in fruit and vegetable growing, will be established in the Namangan region by the end of the year.
“At the beginning of the year, the President instructed to increase the number of clusters. By the end of 2020, we have planned to create 11 more clusters in the Namangan region and increase the share of fruit and vegetable lands attached to the clusters to 50%,” Saidkamol Khodjayev said at the June 28 session of the International Press Club.
The Deputy Minister also spoke about the “One Neighborhood – One Product” initiative on regional specialization.
“Today, the Namangan region has 50,000 hectares of fruit and vegetable lands. At the first stage, 38.5 thousand hectares are being specialized.
For example, in the Iskavot area of the Yangikurgan district, a total of 3,171 hectares of land are used for growing several crops. In 2 years, this 3,171 hectares will be specialized in gardening and vegetable growing. Of course, climatic and natural conditions have been taken into account when specializing the region for certain crops,” the Deputy Minister of Agriculture said.
