Ex-head of State Tourism Committee Anvar Sharapov dead

Anvar Sharapov, former chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Development, passed away, the Committee’s press service reports. The cause of his death is not specified.

Previously, Sharapov worked in a number of government agencies. In particular, for many years he served in law enforcement bodies (1993-2014), in the Presidential Administration (2014-2016), in particular, as the First Deputy Advisor to the President. 

Sharapov was appointed Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Development on December 14, 2016, and held this position for a year. He headed the Committee during the start of reforms in the tourism sector of Uzbekistan. 

During his mandate, the composition of the State Committee for Tourism Development was fully formed, regional branches and departments were opened in the regions, state unitary enterprises were created. 

For his dedicated work, Anvar Sharapov was awarded the order “Dustlik” (Friendship) and the medal “Jasorat” (Courage).
