Ministry for Mahalla and Family Support expresses concern over detention of Guljahon Yuldasheva
Reportedly, the Ministry for Mahalla and Family Support, in cooperation with the Ombudsman, will jointly appeal to higher courts in accordance with the law and on the basis of humanitarian principles, practical assistance will be provided to ensure the rights and legitimate interests of Guljahon Yuldasheva.
The Ministry for Mahalla and Family Support Chief expressed concern over detention of Guljahon Yuldasheva, the chief infectious disease specialist of the Tashkent region, and wants a fair and impartial resolution of the situation, the press service of the Ministry reported.
On October 3, in the pre-trial detention center No. 1 of the Main Penitentiary Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the First Deputy Minister for Mahalla and Family Support G. Marufova and the chairman of the secretariat of the Human Rights Commissioner of Oliy Majlis (Ombudsman), S. Azimov met with the chief infectious disease specialist of the Tashkent region Guljahon Yuldasheva.
“During the conversation, it was identified that G. Yuldasheva was charged with causing the death of a person from COVID-19 and embezzling 250 million soums. The doctor had been remanded in custody as a precautionary measure, given that she could hide from the investigation and the court.
G. Yuldasheva stated that she is a mother of 6 minors, including 2 and 3-year-old children, she did not try to hide from the investigation or the court. At the same time, she requested practical assistance in changing the measure of restraint applied against her in order to ensure the impartiality in the investigation of the activities of the Tashkent Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital and her direct participation in the inquiry and investigation.
Following the results of the talks, the Ministry for Mahalla and Family Support, in cooperation with the Ombudsman, will jointly appeal to higher courts in accordance with the law and humanitarian principles. Practical assistance will be provided to ensure the rights and legitimate interests of G. Yuldasheva,” the press service of the Ministry said.
It should be recalled that the chief infectious disease specialist of the Tashkent region Guljahon Yuldasheva said that the work of medical staff treating coronavirus patients was not properly encouraged, and in severe cases, the Tashkent regional medical department did not provide the necessary assistance.
Later, the head of the regional health department Turakul Arzikulov commented that the hospital in Chirchik was not specialized in the treatment of COVID-19 patients, and G. Yuldasheva was spreading unfounded information.
On September 8, it was reported that Guljahon Yuldasheva had been arrested. The Prosecutor General’s Office commented on the case and said that she was involved in the case as a defendant under Article 167-3 (a) (large-scale embezzlement) and Article 207-3 (a) (causing the death of a person due to the professional negligence) of the Criminal Code, and she was taken into custody as a precautionary measure.
