Court verdict on police officers accused of torturing a young man to death in Andijan announced
Today, November 27, the Andijan regional criminal court announced the verdict on the case of police officers who tortured a young man to death.
According to Kun.uz correspondent, an open court hearing on the criminal case against defendants D. Khamraliyev, K. Kadirov, E. Rayimjanov, F. Khusanboyev (all worked as operative officers of the Andijan city DIA No. 4), P. Mamajonov (head of the Andijan city DIA No. 4) and A. Turakulov (duty officer at the Andijan city DIA No. 4) has ended and the verdict has been announced.
According to the decision of the Supreme Court Judicial Board on Criminal Cases:
- D. Khamraliyev was sentenced to 9 years in prison;
- K. Kadirov – 10 years in prison;
- E. Rayimjanov – 10 years in prison;
- F. Khusanboyev – 10 years in prison;
- P. Mamajonov – 8 years and 6 months in prison;
- A. Turakulov – 1 year in prison.
It should be recalled that on May 30 this year, a young man with various bodily injuries was brought to the Andijan branch of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Care. According to preliminary data, three officers of the criminal investigation department tortured him to death.
The police officers illegally detained the man and brought him to the DIA administrative building, and then they used torture, causing serious damage to his rights and legitimate interests.
As a result, the young man was taken from the Department of Internal Affairs to the Andijan branch of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Care. Unfortunately, he died on June 11.
