Nurmat Otabekov announces categories of people first to receive vaccines against COVID-19
Nurmat Otabekov, deputy head of the Sanitary-Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health Service, told who would be the first to receive a vaccine against coronavirus in Uzbekistan.
“Uzbekistan has become a member of COVAX. It is a dedicated global alliance for vaccines and immunization. We have already submitted an application and it has been accepted. If the WHO approves the vaccine against coronavirus, then Uzbekistan will receive it,” he said in an interview with Uzbekistan 24 TV channel.
Nurmat Otabekov noted that Uzbekistan had submitted an application for 2 million doses.
“If the vaccine arrives in Uzbekistan, we plan to vaccinate initially people over 65 years of age, medical workers, school teachers and preschool educators, as they are at risk,” Otabekov said.
