Uzbekistan ready to present state awards to individuals for helping fight corruption

According to the document, a person who reports corruption offences are rewarded with a one-time monetary reward:

- if the corruption case is revealed after his report to the authorities responsible for combating corruption (Office of the Prosecutor-General, State Security Service, Ministry of Interior, Department for Combating Economic Crimes);
- if a person accused of bribery and is on the run gets detained after the report to law enforcement agencies (with the exception of law enforcement officers).

Thus, persons who report corruption offences or otherwise have contributed to the fight against corruption may be awarded a monetary bonus of 3 to 25 BCAs (from 669,000 to 5.5 million soums).

If the amount of the bribe or damage caused or the value of the (embezzled) property is more than 100 BCAs, the reward shall be calculated as follows:

- For reporting about a large amount of bribe – 15 per cent of its value;
- For reporting about a considerably large amount of bribe – 10 per cent of its value.

In addition, a person may be recommended for a State award for his or her outstanding contribution to the fight against corruption.

The special commissions created within the anti-corruption bodies are responsible for rewarding.

The decision on presenting a one-time reward or a commemorative gift is taken within a working day.

The monetary reward will be transferred to an individual’s personal account within 15 working days after changing the cost estimate.
