Feruza Eshmatova elected new Ombudsman
On 15 January, the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis held a regular session, at which the deputies elected the new Ombudsman.
According to the press service of the Legislative Chamber, Feruza Eshmatova has become the Authorized Person of Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman). Prior to that, she had served as Chair of the Senate Committee on Women and Gender Equality.
Since May 2015, the position of Ombudsman was held by Ulugbek Muhammadiyev.
Eshmatova was born in 1979 in the Kashkadarya region. In 2000, she graduated from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.
In 2002-2015, she worked at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. In 2015-2020 she was a member of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis.
