Urgut district khokimiyat employee detained while receiving $15,000 in bribe
An employee of the Urgut district khokimiyat extorted $30,000 from a citizen, promising to help him in the allocation of a land plot in the Urgut free economic zone. He was caught red-handed while receiving $15,000 from the man.

As the information service of the Samarkand regional prosecutor’s office reported, citizen I.S. appealed to the Samarkand regional SSS department stating that the employee of the Urgut district khokimiyat N.Sh. and his partner N.I. asked for $30,000 in bribe in exchange for 1 hectare of reserve land in the Urgut free economic zone. I.S. demanded that legal action be taken against them.
On January 20, the Samarkand regional prosecutor’s office in cooperation with the regional SSS Department and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General’s Office organized an operative event, during which, N.Sh. and his partner N.I. were detained with material evidence at the time of receiving $15,000 of the previously agreed $30,000 from I.S. near the administrative building of the Urgut district khokimiyat.

During the search of the scene and the Lacetti car, belonging to N.Sh., they found $10,000 in the compartment part of the vehicle. Also, $5,000 was found in the pocket of N.I., which was seized as material evidence.
Reportedly, the Samarkand city branch of the PGO Department initiated a criminal case against citizens N.Sh. and N.I. under articles 168-4 (a) and 28,211-3 (a) of the Criminal Code. Preliminary investigations are being carried out.
