Uzbekistan’s gold and foreign exchange reserves see sharp increase
The Central Bank has updated the statistics on gold and foreign exchange reserves of Uzbekistan.
According to the regulator, Uzbekistan’s official reserve assets increased from $32.8 billion in December 2020 to $34.9 billion in January 2021.
Most of the reserves are stored in the form of gold – $20.2 billion. Foreign currency assets amount to $14.3 billion.
According to the State Statistics Committee, Uzbekistan exported $5.8 billion worth of gold in January-December 2020. The growth rate in relation to 2019 was 118 percent.
