Uzbekistan plans to purchase 15 million doses of COVID vaccines

Uzbekistan has ordered 15 million doses of coronavirus vaccines, Deputy Head of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health Service Nurmat Otabekov said in an interview with the TV channel Uzbekistan 24.

“In total, we plan to purchase about 15 million doses of vaccines for seven million people. This is about 20 percent of the population,” Otabekov said.

At the initial stage, 100 thousand doses of vaccines will be purchased for 500 thousand people.

It should be recalled that starting from February 1, Uzbekistan will begin to prepare doctors for the mass vaccination of the population against coronavirus.

In early December last year, the Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Denis Manturov delivered 100 doses of Sputnik V vaccine to Tashkent for further testing required for registration and launching industrial production of the vaccine in the Republic.
