Senators to consider amendments to the Constitution and other laws
The February 5 plenary session of the Senate will consider a number of laws related to changing Election Day, establishing the Day of Peoples’ Friendship and other issues.
The 12th plenary session of the Senate of Oliy Majlis will be convened on Friday, February 5. The upper house council made such a decision at its February 1 meeting.
According to the official release, the following laws will be considered at the plenary session:
“On amendments and addenda to some legislative acts of Uzbekistan in connection with the improvement of electoral legislation”;
“On auditing”;
“On amendments and addenda to the Criminal and Criminal Procedural Codes of Uzbekistan”;
“On amendments to some legislative acts of Uzbekistan”;
“On the celebration of the Day of Peoples’ Friendship”.
It should be recalled that in accordance with the amendments to the Constitution and electoral legislation, elections and referendums are expected to be moved from December to October.
If the law is approved by the Senate and signed by the President, the 2021 presidential election will take place on October 24.
It is also proposed to mark July 30 in the country as the Day of Peoples’ Friendship.
The plenary session will hear the government’s report on the implementation of the state program for 2020.
