The review was conducted by the Senate Committee on Defense and Security as part of parliamentary oversight. Representatives of relevant ministries and agencies reported on cooperation in investment, industry, trade, agriculture, mining, geology, digital technology, construction, light industry, food security, rail transport, pharmaceuticals and science. A representative of Uzbekistan’s embassy in Pakistan also outlined practical aspects of bilateral cooperation.

The meeting noted that relations between the two countries had expanded in recent years, encompassing political dialogue, trade and investment, transport and logistics, industrial cooperation, agriculture, education, science and cultural ties.

Particular attention was given to agreements reached during President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s state visit to Pakistan on February 5–6, 2026. Road maps for implementing the agreements were approved by Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 174 on April 16, 2026.

Committee members reviewed progress under the road maps, including completed work, outstanding issues and measures to address them. While progress had been made, some commitments were behind schedule, the meeting heard.

Participants called for closer coordination among the agencies responsible for implementation to ensure that all assigned tasks are completed fully and on time. They also stressed that progress should be measured by tangible results rather than reports of activities carried out.

Issues requiring joint decisions with the Pakistani side should also be raised through interparliamentary dialogue, participants said.

The meeting concluded with the adoption of a corresponding decision.
