Government to introduce tourist tax for local tourists from March 1
On February 9, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the decree “On measures for further development of domestic and pilgrim tourism in Uzbekistan”.
According to the document, from March 1 of this year for citizens of Uzbekistan and stateless persons permanently residing in the republic, a tourist (hotel) tax is introduced for each day of their stay in accommodation facilities. The amount will be established by the Cabinet of Ministers.
“The funds received from the payment of the tourist (hotel) tax are used to finance measures to promote and stimulate domestic tourism, to ensure the operation of accommodation facilities during the low tourist season,” the document says.
