List of documents proving Uzbek citizenship amended
The President has signed the decree “On introducing the updated procedure for considering citizenship issues of Uzbekistan”.

According to the decree, the documents confirming the citizenship of Uzbekistan are:
- Passport (ID card);
- Diplomatic passport of Uzbekistan.
In addition, the documents confirming the citizenship of Uzbekistan of a child under the age of sixteen are:
- A birth certificate or a certificate (irrespective of the place of birth of the child) presented upon receiving a passport (ID-card) or other document confirming that one of the parents has citizenship of Uzbekistan;
- A birth certificate or a certificate (in the case of the birth of a child in Uzbekistan) presented upon receiving a residence permit (ID card of a stateless person) by parents (single father or single mother) who are stateless.
The current law “On Citizenship of Uzbekistan” states that the document confirming citizenship is the passport of a citizen or other document containing an indication of citizenship.
