Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan aim to boost bilateral trade

“We have touched upon the whole range of bilateral issues of mutual interest. Priority attention was paid to expanding trade and economic cooperation. We agreed to take measures to further increase the volume of trade. For these purposes, favorable conditions will be created for enhancing business contacts, new cooperation projects in the field of trade, industry, agriculture, transport and infrastructure worth over $900 million will be implemented,” Mirziyoyev said.

Sadyr Japarov expressed satisfaction with the results of the talks.

“Uzbekistan is one of the key trade partners of Kyrgyzstan. In order to activate the entire range of bilateral cooperation, it is planned to hold meetings of inter-parliamentary and intergovernmental commissions, meetings of khokims and heads of administrations of border regions in the near future. We agreed to create favorable conditions for business representatives, increase the volume of trade,” the President of Kyrgyzstan said.

In addition, the heads of state emphasized their mutual desire to give new dynamics to the development of cultural and humanitarian ties.

Currently, about 300 thousand citizens of Kyrgyz nationality live in Uzbekistan. All the conditions and opportunities for the preservation and development of their language, culture and customs are created. To strengthen friendship, the parties agreed to organize days of culture and cinema, youth forums, festivals and exhibitions. It is planned to allocate grants annually for training talented youth of Kyrgyzstan in priority areas in leading universities of Uzbekistan.
