Schools in Tashkent switching to online classes as COVID-19 spikes across the capital

From March 16, all schools in three districts of Tashkent – Yunusabad, Mirzo-Ulugbek and Chilanzar – have switched to an online form of education.

“At a meeting of the Tashkent city administration’s staff to prevent the spread of new strains of coronavirus in the capital, it was decided to switch to online education in all secondary public schools of Yunusabad, Mirzo-Ulugbek and Chilanzar districts from March 16 until the holiday breaks.

Non-governmental and private educational organizations operating in these districts have also been recommended to switch to online training from March 16 until the holiday breaks specified in the curriculum,” the press service of the Health Ministry said.

Earlier, it was reported that schools in Tashkent, where coronavirus is detected, would be closed for quarantine. As of March 10, 77 schools in the capital had reported cases of coronavirus infection among children and staff.
