President Shavkat Mirziyoyev pardons 140 convicts
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree on pardoning 140 convicts who sincerely repented of their deeds and firmly embarked on the path of correction.
Of those pardoned, 4 persons were fully relieved from serving the sentence, 69 were released on parole, 8 of them got a milder sentence, and the sentence of 59 convicts was reduced.
Among the pardoned, 12 persons are foreign nationals, 9 are men over 60 years of age, 13 – are women.
Reportedly, 14 of the pardoned citizens participated in the activities of banned organizations.
Also, the responsible ministries and agencies have been instructed to help the pardoned reintegrate into society, help them engage in social services, promote healthy lifestyles and gain a worthy place in the community they live.
