Uzbekistan establishes criminal liability for insulting the President on the Internet

The law “On amendments and additions to some legislative acts of Uzbekistan” has been signed by the President.
According to the Ministry of Justice, the law amended the Criminal Code.
In addition, insulting or slandering the President of Uzbekistan using telecommunications networks or the Internet is punishable by up to 3 years of correctional labor or 2 to 5 years of liberty restriction or up to 5 years of imprisonment.
