New gold deposit discovered in Uzbekistan
A new 133-ton gold deposit has been discovered in Uzbekistan.
According to Asror Rustamov, a State Geological Committee official, the deposit is located in Kyzylkum.
Rustamov added that in 2020, Uzbekistan also registered a deposit with lead, gold and silver reserves in Surkhandarya, a 200-ton copper mine in Almalyk and a tungsten deposit on the border of Samarkand and Kashkadarya regions.
For information, last year Uzbekistan sold 100 tons of gold abroad. A total of 687 tons (non-monetary) gold has been exported in the last 10 years.
