Import of cooking oil into territory of Uzbekistan exempt from VAT

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed the law “On measures to provide the population with certain types of food products”, the Ministry of Justice reports.

The law introduced amendments to the Tax Code. According to the changes, from May 1 to December 31, 2021, the import of vegetable oil, sunflower and flax seeds, as well as soybeans into the territory of Uzbekistan is exempt from VAT.

In accordance with the document, in the period from May 1 to December 31, 2021:

• export customs duties are introduced for certain types of food products;
• business entities are allowed to export no more than 50% of the produced vegetable oil (TN VED codes 1512 11 - 1512 19), obtained as a result of processing sunflower oil and sunflower seeds imported by these entities.

The law shall enter into force on the day of its official publication.
