Mishustin proposes a minute of silence to honor memory of the fallen in Great Patriotic War

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at a meeting of the joint commission of the Russian Federation and Uzbekistan proposed to honor the memory of those killed in the Great Patriotic War with a minute of silence.

Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov headed the delegation of Uzbekistan at the meeting, TASS reports.

Before the meeting, the Russian prime minister recalled that June 22 is the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow and that “on this day exactly 80 years ago the Great Patriotic War that claimed tens of millions of lives began."

“Today we must pay tribute to the soldiers, to the workers, who defended the independence of the Motherland during such trials. This is our common story, the brotherly people of Uzbekistan made a significant contribution to the victory over fascism, hundreds of thousands of Uzbeks showed fearlessness, courage and heroism, many did not return from the battlefield. I propose to honor the memory of everyone who valiantly fought on the front, to pay tribute to the people who, at the cost of their own lives, won a great Victory,” Mishustin said.

After that, he announced a minute of silence.
