Uzbekistan and Russia to accelerate creation of a green transport corridor

The Ministry of Economic Development of Russia held meetings with the delegation of the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of Uzbekistan, headed by First Deputy Minister Ilkhom Norkulov.

First Deputy Minister Andrey Ivanov and Deputy Ministers Dmitry Volvach and Polina Kryuchkova took part in the meetings on the behalf of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation. The talks took place before the meeting of the intergovernmental commission of Russia and Uzbekistan.

Dmitry Volvach proposed accelerating the preparation of a memorandum on the creation of a “green” transport railway corridor between Russia and Uzbekistan, which will significantly intensify mutual trade. “We need to fill the bilateral agenda with specific projects, including in the production sector, logistics, as well as in agriculture - taking into account its role in the economy of Uzbekistan,” he explained.

Opportunities for enhancing interregional cooperation were also discussed during the meeting. “Uzbekistan interacts fruitfully with individual regions of the Russian Federation, companies cooperate, conclude agreements, and hold joint events. This practice must be continued,” the deputy minister said. In addition, they considered the preparations for the 2nd forum of interregional cooperation with the participation of heads of state.

The Uzbek side showed interest in the Russian experience of participating in cross-border cooperation programs. In this context, Dmitry Volvach mentioned the successful experience of implementing these programs with the countries of the European Union. “Despite different periods of relations with the European Union, the projects did not stop and were implemented on time,” he said, adding that a new package of border programs is currently being prepared until 2027.

Andrey Ivanov took the initiative to create a roadmap to intensify bilateral cooperation in the field of investment policy and the implementation of projects to increase labor productivity.

He also drew the attention of colleagues from Uzbekistan to the fact that soon the Ministry of Economic Development plans to launch digital ecosystems in these two areas of work.

In particular, the services of the digital ecosystem of the national project “Labor Productivity” will allow participating enterprises to diagnose business in real time, identifying problem areas, as well as simulate development scenarios related to the introduction of new products, the fulfillment of strategic orders and even the reengineering of the entire production system.

“We are ready to share our experience in increasing labor productivity, so we offer Uzbek enterprises to connect to the new ecosystem after its launch,” the deputy minister concluded.
