Information on social networks went viral that the Taliban excluded the study of the Uzbek language from the school curriculum in Afghanistan.
This was announced by an official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.
“Recently, the so-called “analyst” Anvar Nazir published a note on social networks that the Taliban movement allegedly excluded the study of the Uzbek language in Afghanistan from the school curriculum. Based on this, the specified person concludes that the study of the legacy of Amir Temur, Shaybanikhan, Boborakhim Mashrab, Makhmud Ghaznevi, Abu Raikhan Beruni, as well as the study of Navoi are prohibited by the Taliban in Afghanistan,” Yusup Kabuljanov said.
As it became known, during the conversation of the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan with the official leadership of the Taliban movement, the above information was denied by the Afghan side as untrue.
“The Taliban representative confirmed that the Uzbek language, along with the Pashto and Dari languages, will continue to remain one of the official languages of Afghanistan,” Yusup Kabuljanov said.
The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed referring to the Taliban official representative that the new leadership of the country will attach great importance to the study and development of the Uzbek language in Afghanistan.
“It is a matter of sincere regret that some ignorant “analysts” and journalists publish openly distorted and false information in search of dubious sensations and fictitious facts,” he concluded.
