Shavkat Mirziyoyev speaks about difficulties in relations with neighboring countries
During a meeting with voters in Samarkand, Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke about the difficulties in relations with neighboring countries. Kun.uz correspondent reports.
“You know how many meetings we had when we visited Tajikistan. The President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow announced there that he would visit Uzbekistan. We have to solve very important problems – the matter of water, the matter of borders. We solved the border issue with Kyrgyzstan with former President Almaz Atambayev by 57%. We are solving the rest with the incumbent President Sadir Japarov.
Have we done such efforts before? There were mines on our borders! If we want to establish friendly relations with developed, large countries, they tell us: “how can you be friends with us if you can’t be friends with your neighbors, don’t they?
We are doing all these actions for the sake of our people. After all, we are doing our best to maintain human interests, freedom and human dignity,” Kun.uz correspondent quoted the presidential candidate as saying.
