Uzbekistan has no plans to deploy US troops on its territory, but is ready to share intelligence with Washington as part of a common fight against terrorism. The statement came from Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov in an interview with Russian journalists.

“I want to emphasize once again that the issue of the deployment of US troops is not on the agenda, it is not being discussed and this issue has not been raised. We are ready to cooperate and continue to cooperate with any country, whether it is the United States or any other country, on the prevention of terrorism within the framework of international practice, international law, international conventions and agreements we have adopted,” he said.

According to Kamilov, Uzbekistan is not opposed to the exchange of intelligence in order to prevent terrorist attacks. But it is necessary to take into account all the features of this process without exposing valuable sources.

According to him, during many serious meetings, the United States was informed that Uzbekistan will not deploy American troops on its territory.

“When we discuss the fight against terrorism with the United States, we are also talking about the international practice of cooperation in the fight against this evil,” Abdulaziz Kamilov said.
