European Commission to allocate €83 million targeted grants to Uzbekistan
Tashkent hosted the 4th meeting of the Subcommittee between Uzbekistan and the European Union (EU) for Development Cooperation, organized by the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade in conjunction with the EU delegation in Uzbekistan, the press service of the MIFT reported.

The event was held under the co-chairmanship of Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Shukhrat Vafayev and the EC Department Head Sarah Rinaldi.
The key issues on the agenda of the meeting were the prospects and directions for further bilateral financial and technical cooperation with the European Commission within the framework of the new program cycle for 2021-2027.
In particular, the parties discussed the implementation of projects and activities in the areas of support for agriculture and "green growth", improving the efficiency of management and digitalization, including judicial, transport and logistics systems, bettering the investment climate, as well as the socio-economic development of the Aral Sea region.
The European side announced the intention of the European Commission to allocate targeted grants for Uzbekistan in the amount of 83 million euros for 2021-2024, as well as expand, together with the EU member states, financial and technical cooperation for the development of the Aral Sea region.
Following the negotiations, an agreement was reached on close interaction and joint work in order to accelerate and successfully implement joint initiatives within the framework of the new program cycle of the European Commission for 2021-2027.
