Uzbekistan to launch 16-day active campaign against gender-based violence
Starting November 25, a 16-day active campaign against gender-based violence will be launched in Uzbekistan.
Announcing the start of the campaign from November 25, Senate Speaker Tanzila Narbayeva said that there is “a long and arduous way” in the fight against gender-based violence. She asked everyone to be active in the campaign.
“A number of specific measures have been taken in our country to prevent violence against women and to rehabilitate victims of violence. However, there are still cases of violence against women in our society, which can no longer be hidden,” she said.
Narbayeva added that some women prefer not to reveal the violence they have faced.
