Territory of Samarkand to expand, be divided into five districts
On November 23, the Samarkand city council of people’s deputies held its regular session. At the session, issues of expanding the territory of the city and creating 5 districts were discussed.

As part of the transformation of Samarkand into a city with a population of one million, it is planned to create five districts by including land plots from rural areas in the city.
According to the project, the following 5 administrative districts will appear in the city:
Korasuv district – 33 mahallas with a population of 134.7 thousand people;
Siab district – 100 mahallas, with a population of 301.3 thousand people;
Sogdiana district – 54 mahallas, with a population of 184.9 thousand people;
Bagishamal district – 55 mahallas, with a population of 170.5 thousand people;
Marokand district – 51 mahallas, with a population of 226.6 thousand people.
