Uzbekistan proposes to extend VAT exemption on imports of meat and vegetable oil 

The government has submitted a bill to the parliament to extend the period for VAT exemption on meat, potatoes and other food products.

A regular meeting of the faction of the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan was held in the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis. 

It considered draft laws “On drinking water supply and sewerage”, “On non-bank credit institutions and microfinance activities”, “On amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the adoption of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, “On international commercial arbitration”, “On amendments to Article 483 of the Tax Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, aimed at ensuring price stability for basic food products”.

In particular, it was noted that the last document is intended to provide the population with an uninterrupted and guaranteed supply of basic food products in the winter-spring period, fill the market and meet the needs of the population.

The bill consists of three articles, which provide for amendments to Article 1 of the Tax Code.

It is proposed to extend the value added tax exemptions levied on imported, produced and sold basic food products until April 30, 2022. Among them are vegetable oil, sunflower and flax seeds, soybeans, meat, cattle, poultry and products obtained from their slaughter, potatoes, frozen fish.

The bills were approved by deputies.
