Uzbekistan to conclude 10 agreements on construction of solar and wind power plants in 2022

In 2022, project agreements will be signed for the construction of 8 solar photovoltaic power plants with a total capacity of 1,900 MW in the regions, and wind power plants with a total capacity of 1,700 MW in the Republic of Karakalpakstan. In the first quarter of this year, a 100 MW solar photovoltaic plant will be commissioned in the Samarkand region.

In 2022, 10 agreements on the construction of solar and wind power plants will be signed, the press service of the Energy Ministry reported.

In particular, project agreements are planned to be signed for the construction of 8 solar photovoltaic power plants with a total capacity of 1,900 MW in Bukhara, Namangan, Khorezm, Kashkadarya, Fergana and other regions, and wind power plants with a total capacity of 1,700 MW in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

In 2023, 4 solar photovoltaic power plants with a total capacity of 1,097 MW in Samarkand, Jizzakh, Navoi and Surkhandarya regions and 4 wind power plants with a total capacity of 1,600 MW in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Bukhara (Gijduvan and Peshku) and Navoi regions will start generating energy.

It was noted that over the past 3 years, 10 agreements on the construction of solar and wind power plants have been signed. In August 2021, the first solar photovoltaic plant with a capacity of 100 MW was commissioned in the Karmana district, Navoi region.

At the same time, in the first quarter of 2022, it is planned to launch the 2nd large solar photovoltaic plant with a capacity of 100 MW in the Nurabad district, Samarkand region.
