Samarkand district to be terminated 

A draft resolution of the Senate of Oliy Majlis “On changing the existing administrative-territorial borders of Akdarya, Pastdargom, Samarkand, Taylak districts and on formation of Karasuv, Sogdian, Siyab, Bagishamal, Marokand districts on the territory of the city of Samarkand, Samarkand region and the termination of the Samarkand district” was published.

The administrative-territorial boundaries of the Akdarya, Pastdargom, Samarkand, Taylak districts and the city of Samarkand of the Samarkand region are changing:
 
-  the city of Samarkand will acquire 1,654 hectares of land in Akdarya district, 12,975 hectares in Samarkand district, 1,245 hectares in Pastdargom district, 1,269 hectares in Taylak district;
-  528 hectares of land in the city of Samarkand, 1,370 hectares in the Samarkand district will become part of the Pastdargom district;
-  29,283 hectares of land in the Samarkand district will be transferred to the Taylak district.
 
Samarkand district will be terminated as a separate administrative-territorial unit.
 
The city of Samarkand with a total land area of 28,415 ha will be divided into five districts: Karasuv (8,250 ha), Sogdian (3,741 ha), Siyab (4,846 ha), Bagishamal (3,246 ha), Marokand (8,333 ha). Description and drawing of the boundary of each district has been approved.
 
The Gulobod block of the newly formed Marokand district will become the administrative center of the Samarkand region.
