Over 2,800 officials prosecuted in 2021 

The Prosecutor General’s Office said that in 2021, 2,804 officials were prosecuted. As a result of their crimes, the state suffered material damage in the amount of 913.7 billion soums. Of the officials, 1,741 committed crimes such as embezzlement, 269 – fraud, 165 – bribery, and 41 – official fraud.

The PGO has published an infographic on the number of crimes committed by officials in 2020-2021, the damage caused to the state and the types of crimes.

According to it, in 2021, 2,804 officials were prosecuted on a total of 2,345 criminal cases throughout the country.

Of the convicted officials, 16 were in republican (9 in 2020), 241 in regional (45 in 2020) and 2,547 (1,669 in 2020) district (city) ministries, departments and organizations.

Of the prosecuted officials, 1,741 were involved in embezzlement and robbery (660 in 2020), 269 – fraud (167 in 2020), 153 – accepting a bribe, and 168 – abuse of official power (47 in 2020), 42 – neglecting official responsibilities (25 in 2020), 41 – career fraud (11 in 2020), 12 – paying a bribe and 353 – other crimes (280 in 2020).

As a result of the crimes committed by officials, in 2021, material damage to the interests of the state and society amounted to 913.7 billion soums, of which 714.8 billion soums (78.2%) were recovered. The amount of damage in 2020 amounted to 500 billion 102 million soums, of which 355 billion 754 million soums (71%) were collected.
