Rights of almost 7 million consumers violated in 2021
In 2021, the rights of almost 7 million consumers were violated. The amount of material damage caused to them is more than 150 billion soums. Azam Kurbanov, Deputy Director of the Consumer Rights Protection Agency, announced this at an AIMC briefing.
It is noted that in 2021, the department received 26,249 complaints about violations of consumer rights. As a result of consideration of appeals and studies, it was revealed that the rights of about 7 million consumers were violated and they suffered material damage in the amount of more than 150 billion soums.
81% of the appeals considered were satisfied and resolved with the help of legal assistance.
Of the 3,960 consumers of the public utilities sector in August-December, 59.7% of the problems were resolved on the spot, and 38% were given the appropriate legal explanations.
In the course of 826 studies and analyzes conducted on the basis of consumer appeals, the agency’s work plan and information provided by other departments, it was found that a total of 127 billion soums was unduly collected from consumers.
For violating the law on consumer protection and advertising, documents were drawn up in relation to 337 entities, which were given orders to eliminate violations. With regard to 44 offenders, administrative protocols were drawn up and sent to the relevant courts. Administrative fines were imposed on 32 persons totaling 12.4 million soums.
