President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev greeted the Olympians of Uzbekistan at the opening ceremony of the XXIV Winter Olympic Games in Beijing.
According to the press service of the head of state, the event was held at the National Stadium “Bird’s nest” in Beijing with the participation of foreign leaders, official delegations and heads of international organizations.
The artistic program of the ceremony embodied the concept of the “Community with a common destiny of mankind”, put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping, reflecting the ancient history and rich culture of the Chinese people, achievements of the economy, the spirit and values of the international Olympic movement.
There was a parade of nations. Sports delegations of the countries participating in the Winter Olympic Games, including the national team of Uzbekistan, passed through the stadium. Skier Komil Tukhtayev, taking part in the Games, solemnly carried the State flag of Uzbekistan around the stadium.
For information, the Olympic Games will be held from February 4 to 20, 109 sets of medals in 15 sports will be played, for which more than 4,000 athletes from over 90 countries will compete.
