Gov’t to allocate 10 billion soums for development of hydrogen energy
By May, a program of scientific research in this area should be approved.
Until May 2022, they will adopt a program for organizing scientific research to create technologies for the production, storage and transportation of hydrogen energy. The total cost within its framework is estimated at 10 billion soums, Spot reports referring to the Energy Ministry.
Key stages of the program implementation:
• in 2023–2024 – creation of new technologies (adsorbers for hydrogen storage, metal hydride carriers, nanocatalysts for hydrogen production and electrolysis based on solar energy);
• in 2022-2024 – scientific internships for 20 young scientists and specialists in specialized scientific centers and universities abroad.
Last year, the Research Institute of Renewable Energy Sources was established under the Ministry of Energy. It included the Research Center for Hydrogen Energy and the Laboratory for Testing and Certification of Renewable and Hydrogen Energy Technologies. Now the institute is conducting scientific research in this direction.
The state pays attention to the development of hydrogen energy infrastructure. This will improve the energy efficiency of the economy and strengthen the energy security of the country. In particular, earlier the Ministry of Energy, Saudi ACWA Power and American Air Products signed an open agreement on the development of renewable and hydrogen energy in Uzbekistan.
