About 2 tons of bread a day thrown away in Tashkent
An official from the capital’s Makhsustrans service said they were forced to dump moldy bread into the ditch.
According to Ismail Sagdullayev, a consultant of the Tashkent city Makhsustrans Production Department, there are 606 landfills in the capital. 71% of waste collection points belong to the Makhsustrans Production Department, and the remaining 29% belong to private service points.
From each of the 1,000 waste dumps in the city, a total of about 2 tons of bread waste (2-3 kg from each of them per day) is dumped into landfills. The staff sends the best of these loaves to people who keep pets. They are forced to dump moldy bread into the ditch.
