Tashkent removes 14,000 tons of waste as part of citywide clean-up efforts
More than 14,000 tons of household and solid waste have been removed from 585 neighborhoods across Tashkent.
A comprehensive effort to maintain sanitary order and promote environmental awareness continues in Tashkent. According to the city administration, administrative fines totaling UZS 2 billion were imposed for violations related to improper waste disposal and dumping in unauthorized areas.
A special waste management headquarters operates under the Toza hudud (Clean Area) and Toza poytaxt (Clean Capital) projects.
The city administration reported the following results:
• 812 units of special equipment removed over 14,000 tons of household and solid waste from 585 neighborhoos, delivering it to designated landfills;
• The areas surrounding 8,573 apartment buildings were cleaned, sanitary treatment was carried out, and 2,890 trees were maintained;
• 10 km of water bodies were cleared of 315 tons of waste from residents and enterprises across 12 locations;
• The sanitary condition of 594 facilities was inspected, with 365 violations eliminated.
The Tashkent city administration emphasized that illegal dumping is being systematically monitored and stopped, with strict measures taken against offenders. Preventive work with residents and organizations is also being intensified.
