“4 million doses of Pfizer and 7.5 million doses of Modern vaccine will be delivered by July” – Bakhodir Yusupaliyev
Bakhodir Yusupaliyev, head of the Sanitary-Epidemiological Surveillance and Public Health Service, said more than 11 million doses of the vaccine would be delivered by July this year.
He said this at a meeting of the Republican Special Commission on 23 February, Gazeta.uz correspondent reports.
“Another 4 million doses of Pfizer and another 7.5 million doses of Moderna vaccine will be delivered in March, June and July. The Jurabek enterprise has already produced 10 million doses of Uzbek-Chinese vaccine, which is also a reserve vaccine,” Bakhodir Yusupaliyev said.
The SES head said that at present there is no suitable vaccine to organize vaccination of children under 12 years of age and the necessary measures are being taken for this purpose. “We are currently considering bringing the Pfizer vaccine for children to Uzbekistan,” he said.
According to him, a total of 53.7 million doses of 7 types of vaccines imported and produced in the country, of which 45.3 million doses were used. There are currently 18.3 million doses of vaccine in stock.
The number of vaccinated in the country has reached 21.5 million:
ꞏ those who received the first dose – 19.6 million citizens;
ꞏ those who received the second dose – 15.4 million citizens;
ꞏ those who received the booster dose – 10.3 million citizens.
At the meeting, it was also mentioned that the requirement to wear a mask in Uzbekistan would abolished from March 1. “Even in the regions, no one actually wears a mask,” the PM Abdulla Aripov said. In addition, wearing a mask on public transport, markets, educational institutions, theaters, museums, mosques will be recommended.
