Female chess player from Uzbekistan becomes world champion
16-year-old Umida Omonova and 12-year-old Khumoyun Bekmurodov won gold and silver medals at the World Rapid Chess Championship.

At the World Rapid Chess Championship among children and teenagers in Rhodes, Greece, two talented Uzbeks became prizewinners.
More than 330 young chess players from 40 countries took part in the World Championship.
The honor of Uzbekistan was defended by three young chess players – Khumoyun Bekmurodov (12 years old), Olmos Rakhmatullayev (16 years old) and Umida Omonova (16 years old).
Umida Omonova from Surkhandarya chess school became the world champion in her age group. Khumoyun Bekmurodov from Tashkent won a silver medal.
