The delegation of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, headed by Chairperson of the Senate Tanzila Narbayeva, who is in Ashgabat these days, met with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow.
As the parliamentary press service reported, during the meeting, the parties noted with satisfaction the positive dynamics of Uzbek-Turkmen relations, which in recent years have been filled with new practical content.
The importance of ensuring the regular work of the Intergovernmental Commission on trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural-humanitarian cooperation was emphasized.
In addition, the parties agreed on the need to intensify the inter-parliamentary dialogue in order to promote the development of ties between the regions of the two countries, as well as the expansion of industrial cooperation between manufacturers of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
Issues of strengthening cooperation in the cultural-humanitarian sphere were also discussed, including the continuation of the practice of holding joint events demanded by the population of the two countries in this direction.
