There were reports on social networks that about 200 people were poisoned at a wedding in a restaurant in the Jambay district of Samarkand. The incident was commented on by the press service of the Jambay district DIA.

According to the information service of the regional police department, 19 residents of the Jambay district turned to medical associations about food poisoning at a wedding. 14 of them were referred for outpatient treatment due to a satisfactory state of health. Five are being treated at the medical association.

Currently, the Samarkand Regional DIA is conducting an inspection.

“Reports by some TV channels about the poisoning of 200 people do not correspond to reality, and an investigation has been launched on these reports,” the Department said in a statement.

The information service of the Jambay district administration denied reports of food poisoning in the region. They also reported that the number of food poisoning was less than 200.

“Indeed, some residents of the Almazar mahalla in the Jambay district went to medical institutions with stomach pains and nausea. But there are not 200 of them. The proposed restaurant is located on the territory of the city of Samarkand,” the report reads.

According to the Jambay District Medical Association, from May 28 to May 31, 13 patients were admitted to the infectious diseases department. In the family medical center “Zarafshan” five patients in a non-serious condition are being treated. Patronage nurses visited the homes of every citizen who was present at the wedding and monitored their health.
