US includes Uzbekistan among countries through which sanctioned goods can enter Russia and Belarus
The US Treasury has included Uzbekistan in the list of countries through which sanctioned goods can enter the territory of Russia and Belarus.
The list was published in the recommendations of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) and the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS).
The departments are urging financial institutions to “be vigilant against efforts by individuals or entities to evade BIS export controls implemented in connection with the Russian Federation’s further invasion of Ukraine.”
In addition to Uzbekistan, the list of transit countries for sanctioned goods includes Georgia, Armenia, Brazil, China, India, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mexico, Nicaragua, Serbia, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
BIS lists items of particular concern that could be used for military purposes: aircraft parts, sonar systems, antennas, spectrophotometers, test equipment, GPS systems, vacuum pumps and oilfield equipment.
Earlier it was reported that the United States imposed sanctions against a company based in Uzbekistan for supporting the military-industrial complex of the Russian Federation.
