OSCE/ODIHR Needs Assessment Mission experts to visit Tashkent
On July 19, experts from the Needs Assessment Mission of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE/ODIHR) will arrive in Tashkent to check preparations for the upcoming republican referendum on the draft Constitutional Law “On Amendments and Additions to the Constitution of Uzbekistan”.
According to the press service of the CEC, the goal of the Needs Assessment Mission, which will work until July 22, is to get acquainted with the organization of work on the preparation and holding of the referendum, as well as to analyze the compliance of national legislation on the referendum with generally accepted international standards.
Based on the findings of the Mission led by Vladimir Misev, the OSCE/ODIHR will decide on the advisability of observing the upcoming republican referendum, its format, duration and the required number of observers.
During the visit, the Mission specialists will meet with the Chairman of the Central Election Commission, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a number of other ministries and departments, and the media.
