Uzbekistan’s passenger car imports for Jan-July 2022 up by more than 1.5 times
South Korea is catching up with China in terms of passenger car supplies.
In January-July 2022, Uzbekistan imported 18,821 cars for $460.9 million, the State Statistics Committee said.
The number of imported foreign cars increased by 6,750 units, or 55.9%, compared to the first 7 months of last year.
Demand for foreign cars in July slightly decreased. During the month, 2,513 cars were imported into Uzbekistan – a little less than in June, and significantly less compared to the April peak.
China remained the main supplier of cars – 7,950 cars arrived from there, 685 of them in July. However, South Korea increased its monthly shipment to 1,148 units and sold 5,658 cars in seven months.
Kazakhstan, with 526 cars in July (3,422 since the beginning of the year), ensured the lead over Russia, which ranked third last year. Russian manufacturers delivered 1,283 cars to Uzbekistan, 89 of them in the last month.
