Quality of school textbooks should improve – Sardor Umurzakov
Textbooks will not only be free, but will also be critically reviewed for quality. The head of the Presidential Administration, Sardor Umurzakov, emphasized the need to avoid corrupt schemes in the publication of textbooks.
After the relevant instructions of the president regarding school textbooks, Umurzakov held a critical meeting on this issue.
At the meeting, a working group consisting of representatives of the Presidential Administration, the Ministry of Public Education and the State Inspectorate for Supervision of Quality in Education was formed to carry out a comprehensive inspection of all school textbooks, identify errors and deficiencies in them, and improve their quality.
The Accounts Chamber, the Anti-Monopoly Committee and the Ministry of Public Education were assigned the task of critically reviewing the system of preparation, publication, cost and distribution of textbooks, and introducing a transparent and effective system of state order fulfillment within 1 month.
Reportedly, the need to avoid corrupt schemes in ordering textbooks was emphasized at the meeting. At the moment, the editors are conducting their own investigation in this direction.
